Nettle Curbside Compost

Rockford, Illinois

Nettle Curbside Compost is a women-owned, worker-owned cooperative dedicated to reducing food waste and promoting healthier soil throughout the Stateline region. By collecting household and commercial food scraps and other compostable materials, Nettle helps keep organic waste out of landfills and return valuable nutrients to the earth.

Their services include convenient weekly and biweekly residential compost collection, community drop-off locations, commercial composting for businesses and organizations, and composting services for special events.

How It Works: Residential subscribers receive a four-gallon collection bucket for food scraps. Nettle collects the filled bucket and replaces it with a clean one. Customers outside the curbside service area can participate through designated community drop-off locations, including sites in Rockton and Beloit.

Service Area: Rockford and surrounding Stateline communities. Curbside availability varies by address.
